The Pink Moon Legend has it that on the peaceful island of Nanuya Lailai, there was a special moon that shone once every ten years. This moon was said to have magical powers, turning tribal women into creatures of the seas. Long ago, a beautiful tribal lady name Isakia Tutulari sat and watched this magical moon, as it shone brightly with a pretty pink light. Her father, the leader of the island, told her to go to sleep as it was very late. She ignored his orders, and sat mesmerized by the lunar show. She felt the moon empowering her, and at once felt at one with the clear ocean surrounding the small island. The next day Isakia was nowhere to be found. But the waters surrounding Nanuya Lailai sparkled with bright pink reflections from this day forward. Fishermen swore they saw beautiful women frolicking in the waves far out from the land. The island people said mystical creatures had been created by the island Gods to keep the tribes and their land safe. Every ten years the islanders celebrated the 'pink moon', and called the night 'party of the mermaids'.
