2015 Harvest - Peru. This bean-to-bar, really raw chocolate is made using the Raw Amazonico Criollo Cacao beans grown by the Ashaninka families who live in the Ene River basin in the Peruvian Amazon. This is one of most bio-diverse regions in the world. These aromatic beans travel by canoe 50km to get to the nearest road. This particular harvest has notes of fennel & aniseed. This 85% Dark Chocolate really puts this beautiful cacao centre stage & therefore is only made from cacao & evaporated coconut nectar from Java, Indonesia. The Rainforest Foundation UK, have played a big role in helping the Ashaninka people, who still retain their traditional way of life, secure their right to land, improve harvesting techniques, management skills & sustainability. Loving Earth, alike, are deeply driven to help support these people's right to lead a life in accordance with their culture & to help protect this rich environment, we are therefore directly supporting these projects.
