Certified Kosher Raw and Wholesome Food for Vibrant Living USDA Certified by Certifiers, Inc "The juice of the coconut tree can be transformed into a sugar as soft as honey... Nature created this product such that it could not be processed in factories. Palm sugar can only be produced in palm tree habitats. Local populations can easily turn the nectar into coconut blossom sugar. It is a way to solve the world's poverty. It is also an antidote against misery." Gandhi 3.5.1936 & Sustainable All-Natural Sweetener Earth Circle s blond coconut palm sugar is a sustainable, healthy alternative to other common sweeteners. Used for thousands of years throughout South East Asia, coconut palm sweeteners have a long, celebrated tradition in foods and medicines. With a moist, crumbly texture this sweetener has its own unique caramel taste. Coconut sugar brings a subtle sweetness to all natural desserts or drinks and adds a bold and exotic flavor to savory recipes. Coconut sugar is made by evaporating the sap of the coconut palm, a highly sustainable resource which is beneficial to the ecosystem. Coconut trees are nearly twice as productive per hectare as sugarcane, and grow in a diverse, wildlife supportive environment. They thrive in severely depleted soil and need very little water, improving local soil structure, plant nutrition, and water conservation over time. The nectar from the coconut palm is hand-harvested by traditional sugar farmers who climb into the canopy of coconut palms to gently slice the blossoms from their stems. Each farmer cares for up to forty trees, climbing forty to fifty feet to collect sap from each tree twice daily. The collected liquid is kettle-boiled into thick caramel syrup, then dried and ground into crystals. Coconut sugar can be used in most recipes in place of cane sugar in a 1:1 ratio.
